The Interior Design Process
Choosing furniture, rugs, window treatments and accessories for your home can be super fun, but it can also become overwhelming! Whether you’re dabbling with the idea of changing color schemes and styles or wondering how to order the right type and size of window treatments for your home, Phelan’s Interiors can be a trusted resource for you. Not only do our designers offer expertise in choosing quality furnishings, they also can help you pull your thoughts and ideas together into one cohesive look. And the bonus is that we offer our residential interior design services free with any furniture purchase.
First, We Listen
To begin the interior design process, our designers will listen to what you have in mind for transforming your home. Is it a new home, or are you remodeling? What rooms do you want to change? Are there any furnishings you want to blend with new furnishings? What are your interior design style goals? How does the space need to function? What is your budget?
We find that by listening closely and asking the right questions, we can make the design process easier, less stressful and more fun. Our designers can focus your ideas into an inspiring mood board, complete with complementary colors, fabric samples, floor plans, paint and finish samples and window treatment options.
Typically, your meetings with a designer would take place in your home so measurements can be taken for the space and windows. The initial meeting can be an engaging conversation as the designer gathers the details needed to develop the design plan.
With the pandemic, we have also made remote interior design services available to bring your home design inspiration to you. Remote design services can be a good way to quick-start your home’s new look.
The Work of Interior Design
Next, we work on assembling a design plan for you. This can include several or all of the following interior design elements that will give you visual inspiration for your design:
For example, a living room design plan can include all of these, only furniture and paint samples, or everything except the lighting and window treatments. It’s really up to you! The design should reflect what you need and want in your home, and the furnishings should fit well into the space.
We will review available items and offer suggestions to give your space the updates you need. The designer will also include ideas for colors and the all-important accessories that add that final touch.
Shopping the Plan
Finally, we come to the fun part—shopping! With a design plan as your guide, we can help you shop and source all of the items needed to redecorate your space. While we specialize in affordable, quality furniture and several brands of window treatments, we can also guide you in selecting and ordering items we may not have in stock or carry. This might include special order lighting or custom upholstery.
In fact, one step you might want to take before talking to us about your design dreams is to explore our Furniture by Room section of the website. Here, you can find inspiration for most of the living spaces throughout your home! Scroll down each of these pages to view our vendors and see what styles and brands get you excited about your redecorating plans.
While these links can be handy, nothing compares to trying out new furniture in person, like our newest additions from Rowe Furniture. Be sure to visit our showroom to sit in chairs and on couches and see more extensive upholstery samples in person. Your designer can guide the way! Once you find and order the items you need, you’re well on your way to having a new look in your space!
