Create The Perfect Bedroom With These 3 Tips

Creating a special space to spend time with family and friends is very important when it comes to decorating a house. Yet, nothing is more important than creating a personal space, like your bedroom. A bedroom is a safe space to escape reality; a safe space to call your own. But if that safe space is making you cringe every time you walk in, then something needs to change. If you are stuck and can’t seem to find any inspiration, try making a Pinterest board to help out! However, to keep your room happy and welcoming, keep these four tips and tricks in mind. This way you’ll enjoy the quality time spent in your bedroom.

Set The Mood

When you set out on this creative adventure, start by asking yourself what kind of mood you want to create. Do you want a sleek and modern bedroom? Or does a boho-chic room fit your style? How about a country cottage quaint? There are many different directions you can go in, but picking one before anything else can help to express that mood.

Color

Once you have chosen your mood, you then need to figure out how to achieve it. A good place to start is with color. Are you wanting to create a dramatic, neutral, or bright look? This is very important to figure out because the wall color will play a huge role in achieving your look. When you are trying to achieve a relaxed environment, try going for more muted colors. Then, add in some pops of color with flowers or throw pillows to add a little flair to your room without overwhelming the space. If you want a more dramatic look, try steel grey walls. If you really want your room to pop-out, try using bright colors like red, orange or yellow

Textures

Adding different textures to your bedroom can change it completely. A soft throw blanket draped across your bed can take a cold, stale room and make it warm and cozy. If you have warm colors for the paint, try adding in some chunky knit or cashmere blankets to give the room some spark. If you want to make the room feel even homier, try adding a plush rug next to or underneath your bed. A plush rug on top of a hardwood floor will definitely give your room a cozy vibe. Then, to top it all off, add in some throw pillows with different materials like faux fur, cotton, or embroidered fabric to add some personality to the room.

Accessorize Away

Adding some accessories to a room is always a great idea. If you don’t know where to start, adding a vase of flowers or a few candles is always a great touch. Once you’ve got the basics down, try adding in a vignette tray with books, jars, or other small nicknacks you find.

Lamps

Another great accessory you can use to add some character to your room is a lamp. Adding in lamps not only gives your room personality, but it also gives off subtle light to make your room feel cozy. Try adding in lamps that have different lampshade shapes, colors, and bases to your room. If you are short on space, try adding some wall sconces or hanging lights.

Wall Hangings

Adding a personal touch like wedding and family photos can help bring happiness into your room. Adding some keepsakes in a shadow box and hanging that on the wall can be a good touch to the room, as well. If you are wanting more of a design element rather than a personal one, try adding some pieces of artwork to the room. Some paintings on the wall can add color and movement to the space while keeping the theme tied together. You can also add some mirrors to the room to add more depth. A leaning mirror or round mirror on the wall will help make your room look bigger while reflecting light.

Alternative Seating

If you have some extra space in your room, try adding some ottomans around the room. Not only will they look great, but they will offer more storage for your room. You can also use them as chairs for when you need to sit, or you can place your purse and shopping bags on them. If you have a cozy corner that doesn’t seem completed yet, try adding a club chair. This chair won’t take up too much space and will be the perfect option for a reading corner. If you want something a little bit more comfy, try adding a stylish recliner if you have the extra space.

Furniture

When you walk into a room, the first thing you expect to see is a bed. That is why you need to make sure your bed makes a statement and is the center of attention. However, there are a lot of different options, so make sure you chose the perfect one to go with the theme of the room. For a bedframe, you can have:

-Iron/metal: Great for shabby chic styles

-Upholstery: Offers vast color options

-Wood: Can have many different finishes that are cohesive with different themes like rustic, classic, or traditional

The bed is the most important part of a bedroom, but to add the final finishes you must have a nightstand. Without nightstands, your room will seem so empty. When choosing a nightstand, you don’t necessarily have to find one that matches. Sometimes a mismatched nightstand can add some character to your room. A nightstand also makes a great storage space that can double as a design piece. Since it is next to your bed, you can add a fun nightlight, maybe an old vintage alarm clock, or add a plant to get some greenery in the room. If you want to make it personal, add a picture frame with a photo of family or friends to it.

Your bedroom is where you will wake up each morning. Making sure it is a place you enjoy starting your day in is so important. For this reason, focusing on designing and decorating your bedroom is a key step in finishing your home. The last thing anyone needs is a bedroom that doesn’t spark joy.
