Community Involvement

About the annual Duck Race sponsorship and the creation of Corridor Goes Casual For Kids

Phelan's Interiors actively supports Cedar Rapids area and Eastern Iowa community involvement and efforts to benefit those with financial and other special needs. Phelan's has been the Presenting Sponsor of the Great Eastern Iowa Duck Race for four years, during which the Duck Race raised over $250,000!

Our most recent effort was as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2013 Great Eastern Iowa Duck Race, which supported FOUR OAKS, BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS,  POLK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

All three organizations focus on educating children and teaching the values of citizenship, character, healthy lifestyle, work ethic, having fun and service to others. Four Oaks and the Boys and Girls Club, which provide services across Eastern Iowa, suffered severe damage from the epic floods of 2008.

You can visit this Duck Race page to read much more about it!

Below is a chart of how Cedar Rapids ranks nationally in support of this cause.

The following 12 races sold out! Congratulations!

kids day logoPaul Phelan founded Corridor Goes Casual For Kids in 2011. In 2012 and 2013, over 160 Corridor business and other organizations donated directly to 52 local charities that provide services for children. CGCFK has no overhead, so 100% of all donations goes directly to children's causes.

Employees voluntarily donate $5 to the charity of their choice to wear casual clothes at work on Kids Day.

CGCFK is endorsed in perpetuity with official government Proclamations by 7 Corridor Mayors and the Boards of Supervisors of Johnson and Linn Counties.

Kids Day is in September this year. Read more at: http://www.CorridorGoesCasualForKids.com
